I’m Sofia – a mom of two delicious little boys, dog-mom to a sweet little Morkie, and wife to an amazing husband (who you’ll never see because he hates social media!). In my spare time, I like to collect classic books, browse vintage stores, and have a really bad shoe habit. Those shoes have now have been replaced mostly by sneakers for running after my wild ones. I love to binge watch period flicks, and any show with an impeccable wardrobe. Mostly, however, these shows watch me as I edit your photos to perfection.
I remember not so long ago breaking down as my oldest was turning six. He had lost his first tooth, and in that moment, unbelievably to me, I felt my memories of his face as a new baby fade away, almost disappear. I was on vacation and didn’t have my albums or wall portraits to pass by everyday and see him always, in this way. I searched through my phone in tears until I found his chubby little smiling face, and videos of giggling, and instantly felt better. I’ve always known that photos have the power to transport you, to make your re-live moments, feel emotions, tell stories. However, I’ve never felt it as strongly as after becoming a mom.
We may think that we will never forget what our babies looked like, but time is a thief, and those memories can and do fade. This all to say, that this is why I treasure what I offer my clients, in the deepest, most sincere way. I want you to never forget these different moments and life-stages. I want your story to live on your walls that you pass by every day, in albums you can hold and flip through with your children as they grow. I want you to look back at how amazing you looked and felt during your pregnancy, in this purest of miraculous moments of your life.
As moms, and women, we are often at the bottom of the totem pole- we are usually busy taking care of all of the loves in our lives. We don’t often make time for ourselves, and when we do, sometimes we feel guilty for it. And mostly, we are generally almost never in photos with our children. Sure, maybe your husband snapped a phone of you in your 5 day old sweats, with milk stains or spit-up on your shoulder, bun up, tired, and mom-ing. When was the last time we took a portrait with our family? With our kids? As such, I always encourage moms to do a maternity shoot for themselves, and then be a part of subsequent sessions with their children. Parent portraits with their newborn, mom and me photos as baby nears the end of their first year. Family portraits capturing their love as babies grow. Every, single time you look at these images, you will forever re-live those moments.
My goal is to create something beautiful and meaningful for your family to treasure, while honoring these moments and memories. Your photographs have the power to change the way you view yourself, the way you remember, and the way you tell stories in the future. What you may see as ordinary, I see as an important fragment of your family’s history. Your children and family will thank you.
