I was so thrilled to see this family again for their little girl’s newborn session! She was the perfect little peach, and mom and dad were just pure joy. When we had discussed preferences for their baby’s session, mom wanted to incorporate two sentimental pieces: her grandmother’s handkerchief and her derby hat. Being from Kentucky, the derby is so much a part of the culture, so we gave little miss a tiny stuffed pink horse too to add on.
I absolutely love incorporating personal pieces into newborn sessions, it helps to tell baby’s family story.
During mom’s maternity session, we had incorporated pink and black, and while we didn’t discuss black for her newborn photos, I thought this would be the perfect companion to her maternity album. I suggested this when they arrived and they loved the idea, and they ended up being some of their favorite family images.
