It’s been almost 3 years since I photographed this lovely family. The first time was just to celebrate big sister’s 1st birthday and we did the sweetest session outdoors for her. It included mom and grandma as well for some beautiful generational portraits. At that time, mom had said, “next time, we’ll have to do family portraits with dad in his formal uniform.”
Here we are three years later, AND a third baby on the way and we finally made those photos come true. Dad is a US Marine, and the dress blues were just so beautiful for these images. We paired these portraits with red and blue for the babies and put mom in a gorgeous red gown from KH Couture. In this whole gallery, they were definitely a family favorite – and dad loved these portraits with his babies!
As baby’s gender is a surprise, the rest of mom’s choices were really quite “neutral”. Mom chose colors that she personally liked. It’s what I tell most moms – wear what YOU like. These photos are as much for you as they are for celebrating your baby! The color schemes can be complimentary to what you use in your home, or nursery, but should also make YOU feel good. I have two boys and definitely wore a hot pink for one of my own maternity photo sets!
I think mom looks radiant in her portraits! And her sweet baby girl was just so precious in the photos of them together as well. The focus for these was really very family centered, a desire made by mom as they really don’t have many photos as a family. They will be going in a gorgeous album for safekeeping. It’s also the perfect piece that will travel well if they have to move based on dad’s assignment. See their beautiful maternity gallery below!
