Couples Studio Maternity Session – Somerset, NJ

I love it when moms come to me and say- I’m up for whatever you think would work! For this NJ studio maternity session, as with all of my sessions, I guide my client based on the outfits from the client wardrobe that she chooses to wear. But, I always like to have a little fun and play with new things with my clients, if they’re up for it. So those “do whatever you want” words are music to my ears!
We started with the core colors mom selected, blue, neutral, and olive green (which will match baby’s nursery too!). Then we layered on a couple of different concepts for fun! We played with some jewels, semi nude looks, and palm leaves to add a little bit of texture and dimension from the otherwise “dressed” gown looks!
When baby is here, we will coordinate some of the colors from mom’s maternity session to match. Typically when moms book both sessions, we try to use at least one look from the maternity session for their newborn. This creates continuity and a sort of before and after look for the family!

This look was a total fave, with the shimmering jewels playing off of the gel lighting!
Olive green for maternity is such a classic color. It functions as a nice neutral more-so than a “color”.
For outdoor maternity session options, Somerset New Jersey is home to some beautiful parks and green spaces, including Colonial Park, which can be privately reserved for your session!
