Celebrating 40 With Portraits: A Moment for Me
Turning forty felt like a milestone worth honoring—not just because of the number, but because of the journey. Over the years, I’ve worn so many hats. Businesswoman. Mom. Housekeeper. Teacher. Psychologist. Personal shopper. Event planner. The list is as long as the hours in a day (especially when you’re a mom!). For this day, I had one objective in mind, celebrating with 40th birthday photos. It was so much more fun than I could have imagined!
Like many women, I’ve gotten used to putting myself last. I’ve poured myself into my family, my work, and everything in between. It becomes so easy to forget the woman inside—the one with dreams, desires, and a spirit that still wants to be seen.
This year, together with my best photographer friend, I chose something different. We created a portrait session just for me. No guilt. Just a moment where I could step into the light and honor the woman I am today. It felt amazing, and I confess I teared up a bit when I saw the final images.
Life doesn’t end at twenty.
Beauty doesn’t fade with age. With every decade, we evolve and gain more than just lines or years. We gain wisdom, confidence, and a deeper understanding of who we are.
At forty, I feel a different kind of beauty. One that isn’t about perfection, but presence. I’ve lived, I’ve grown. And all of that shows up in these images. Too often, women wait for a “reason” to be photographed. A wedding. A new baby. A milestone that involves someone else. But you are reason enough. Your life. Your story. Your beauty.
A portrait session can be whatever you want it to be. It can reflect your everyday self—simple, soft, grounded. Or it can be a bold, out-of-the-box celebration of the sides of you that rarely get to shine. This is how I felt – more often than not, you will see me in sneakers, sweats, and a t-shirt, hair in a bun. But the real me, loves sparkle, shoes, and big earrings. I gave myself this moment.
A portrait session to celebrate you, is a safe, creative space to feel empowered, seen, and celebrated. To laugh, to dance, to wear that dress, or try that look you’ve always loved from afar.
Because you are still growing, still glowing, and still worthy of the spotlight.
So here’s to forty. To embracing womanhood in all its layers. To carving out space for joy, beauty, and self-love in the middle of everything else we do.
This is your time. Your moment. Let’s make it unforgettable.
