An ode to February, love, and baby number three
As a Monroe, NJ maternity photographer, February always feels especially poetic. It is the month of red — of romance, devotion, and celebration. This striking session was an ode to mom’s birthday month, baby’s birth month, and Valentine’s day. These clients have been with me since before the birth of their first baby, and they have been an absolute joy every single time! They have honored me time and time again, by choosing me to capture all of these moments. There is something incredibly meaningful about photographing a family not just once, but across chapters. I have watched them evolve. Expand. Deepen.
This pregnancy feels especially romantic, and mom uttered my favorite words: “Do whatever you think is best.” This level of trust is never lost on me. I immediately suggested red, and she loved the idea – we hadn’t done this color before, and it fit perfectly with all the births and month of February. The color was bold, celebratory, symbolic- and fit perfectly against her snow white features. It elevated the entire session — dramatic yet refined, powerful yet deeply feminine.
A visual timeline of love
And let’s talk about those babies! How cute are these children? I can’t wait to see who baby number three looks like. How can such tiny bodies hold so much personality? There’s an old saying that the first child is calm, the second is spirited, and the third is the wild card. But in this house? The first two are already wonderfully dynamic — full of charm, curiosity, and spark. We are all eagerly awaiting to see where baby number three will land in the mix. Perhaps this little one will arrive as the quiet anchor in a lively home.
In keeping with tradition, we also re-wore a dress she has worn for both of her previous maternity sessions. There is something profoundly moving about this continuity – the same dress, but mom, motherhood, and family have evolved around it. When they put this “last” one up on the wall, it will represent a visual timeline of love. Baby number three is already so anticipate, I can’t wait to meet him or her.
