I have been photographing this lovely family for 8 years! But I have known mom for a lot longer! In a previous life, I was an organizer of a community pageant and this is where we met. When she reached out to me to photograph her first pregnancy in a very cold, snowy winter, little did I know that 8 years and three boys later, here we’d be.
To say boys are a handful, is an understatement. I myself have two, and although I wasn’t able to photograph her two twin babies as newborns (I too was having my own at the same time), I have been lucky to have been able to photograph them since. These two twins couldn’t be more different and will be turning three this year. And big brother is just a BALL of ENERGY, which I am very familiar with.
I really love seeing them every year and creating some special memories to mark this family’s yearly milestones with her babies.
Any time families book sessions with younger children, it can be stressful and turn you as parents, into a ball of nerves. But don’t fret. Many times we just have to let them be themselves. Young children don’t have the focus to sit for traditional portraits once they start walking and their attention span for this sort of thing is very, VERY, small. I always tell parents to have low, if not zero, expectations for smaller children during a session. If you come in with low expectations, you’ll only have upwards to go! And your child will surprise you!
