I could not wait to meet this young family’s beautiful new baby boy! We had had such a wonderful experience at mom’s maternity session, which you can see here. It is so amazing to be able to create a connection with families before baby is even born. In keeping with mom’s color themes from her maternity portraits, we continued the into a sage and neutral newborn session for baby.
Aside from being absolutely scrumptious, baby E was absolutely also giving us all of the facial expressions and side-eye while awake. He was extremely into what was happening for a big portion of the session in the beginning and at the end. However, through it all, we managed to get all of mom’s planned options.
Even though I do go over client preferences and send a questionnaire prior to all of my sessions, there is never any guarantee for any one specific post. Babies are individuals, just like us, and they have different comfort levels and positions they will tolerate. In baby E’s case, he did not want to cooperate with the “swing” shots, so it was an exercise in patience to get this shot for mom. But we did!
These soft sage and mint tones were just so great on this little boy, and I think the blending of both tones together in some of the props worked beautifully. One of parents’ favorite props is my wooden heart, which I typically layer under a solid fabric for a silhouette type of shot. However, for this little man, I loved using this soft, grassy background to tie in all of those soft tones while he was gently sleeping.
And who can forgot those teeny little toes? This macro shot is always a must-have for parents!
For this lovely little guy’s final portraits, we created another custom album to match in tone to mom’s linen maternity book too.
