River Maternity Session - NJ Maternity Photographer

Whenever the warmer weather starts approaching, I get just a little bit more excited about maternity sessions taking place outdoors. Maternity sessions can take place in any season, but there is just something magical about a river maternity session. I can’t tell you the number of moms that WISH they were pregnant in late spring or summer to book a river maternity session!

As part of our normal process, mom told me her favorite colors (purple), and a bit about her home decor. She also expressed interest in incorporating some sage green and any other color that would compliment her skin tone. The purple especially, looked amazing with all the greens outdoors.

I think all parents are a little bit nervous when taking any photos with a toddler. Let me tell you though- big brother was an absolute champ. He was VERY eager to participate in every part of the shoot. With little kids I find that giving them “tasks” in between shots, helps make them feel important. My go-to is to tell them they are the boss and have to make sure mom and dad are following my instructions and listening. They are usually very responsive to this and will take their job seriously.

When I saw this mom I knew that a toasty rust color would be beautiful on her and in the water! And it was! She looks like an absolute goddess and the photos of her and her son in the water are a dream! Baby boy offered his mama a flower, and we got him so excited by letting him splash around a bit!
